LEGO for Confidence and Connection
(Children & Young People)
This training has been developed by National Teaching Fellow and accredited LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator Julia Reeve.
It has been adapted from the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology used in global businesses for the past 20 years. This training provides participants with hands-on exercises using LEGO® bricks for use within a children’s / young people setting: these are designed to foster social connection, build self-confidence and support wellbeing.

Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver LEGO for Confidence and Connection sessions with both individuals and groups, with an emphasis on SEMH needs.

What this training offers:
-
An introduction to the LEGO Serious Play (LSP) Methodology which underpins this training
-
Experience in carrying out LEGO exercises
-
An understanding of the social and emotional benefits of LEGO exercises
-
Guidelines for safely designing and delivering simple LEGO workshops with children and young people
-
The opportunity to reflect on potential uses of LEGO exercises/workshops
How is the training delivered?

Following an introduction to the principles and benefits of the underpinning LEGO Serious Play methodology, participants will take part in a structured series of LEGO activities:

-
Participants build models responding to the facilitator’s questions
-
Participants share the ‘story’ of their model with the group
-
They move from individual to group models
-
Participants progress from making literal models to metaphorical ones

Whilst taking part in the activities, participants will be encouraged to reflect on applications within their own context: the training provides the opportunity to design a LEGO workshop within a given template, and to share these with the group.

A handbook summarising the training and providing space for reflections will be provided, as well as a certificate for participants.
